St Andrews West Sands Beach is famous for the opening scenes of the film Chariots of Fire. The beach extends for almost two miles of uninterrupted sand, backed with dunes and the world-renowned golf course. It is very popular for walking and running as well as for swimming. The beach is just a 15 minutes walk from the town centre, there is plenty of car parking, the beach is zoned to keep sand yachts and families apart.
Summer will be with us soon and we are inviting all our readers and members to vote for the best beach in Scotland.
