Is the Hogwarts Express a real train?
No, the Hogwarts Express is not a real train. Although it has appeared in the Harry Potter film series and books, the Hogwarts Express does not exist outside of literature and cinema.
In the movies, the train departs from King’s Cross Station Platform 9¾ in London every September 1st to take students to their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
In reality, Platform 9¾ is only a movie set, and the Hogwarts Express is nothing more than an illusion created on screen. But as we all know, the magic created by J.K Rowling’s imagination can never be completely replicated in real life!
But…
There is a way to see a real life “Hogwarts Express“
The Jacobite steam train which operates between Fort William and Mallaig in Scotland is the same train used to film many of the Harry Potter scenes for Hogwarts Express, including when it steams across Glenfinnan Viaduct – a location featured in several movies!
Service on the line has been halted for a while because of safety concerns but as reported by the BBC.
Services on the "Hogwarts Express" steam train can resume after being granted a temporary exemption to a safety rule.
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) said the Jacobite - made famous by its appearances in the Harry Potter films - can run until the end of November.
Services had previously been halted after a safety inspection found passengers were being put at risk.
But the ORR is happy for the service to return after new safety arrangements.
Taking a ride on this iconic locomotive is an unforgettable experience, and you may even spot some of the same magical creatures that appear in the films! So if you’re ever looking for a dose of wizarding world magic, take a ride on The Jacobite steam train – it’s sure to put a spell on anyone who takes it!

Who was murdered at Stirling Castle?
In 1452, a fateful event occurred at Stirling Castle in Scotland. King James II had summoned William, 8th Earl of Douglas, to the castle and demanded that he end his alliance with the MacDonalds. The king was met with defiance, and an argument ensued. In a sudden act of violence, Douglas was stabbed to death by the king's attendants.
The murder of William, 8th Earl of Douglas, at Stirling Castle has gone down in history as a pivotal point in Scottish history. Located on top of an extinct volcano near the River Forth, Stirling Castle was built by King David I and was a popular royal residence during the Middle Ages. Because of this castle's proximity to the border between Scotland and England, it was often a site of contention as both countries fought for control.
The brutal murder of Douglas at Stirling Castle served as an example of how much power the Scottish monarchy had in determining who would rule and who would fall.
