The Bridge to Nowhere... When the tide comes in, the mystery begins
This curved footbridge at Belhaven Bay in East Lothian is known as the “Bridge to Nowhere.” At low tide, it provides a safe path across Biel Water to the sandy beach. But when the tide rises, the bridge appears to lead straight into the sea—creating one of Scotland’s most photographed illusions. Location: Belhaven Bay, near Dunbar – About 30 miles east of Edinburgh. — Have you seen the tide cover this curious bridge?
“When we were young we used to night fish off the bridge with our dad along with others doing the same. You got on as the tide turned to come in and sat for hours quietly fishing with your flask and sandwiches at hand and left when the tide turned again. Great childhood memories.” - Lesley Gordon-Smith
